Dear Benicia Families,
As you may be aware, there are fires in Northern California that have the potential to create air quality issues here in Benicia. Solano County Office of Emergency Services sent out a notification to be mindful of air quality, and to inform us that there are no active fires locally.
In BUSD we are monitoring our air quality diligently. We have air quality monitors at each school site. Right now, we are in the orange level. This means:
- It’s ok to be outside for short periods of time like recess and PE
- Take breaks when out for long periods of time such as sports practices
Each school site has MERV-13 filters in all the HVAC units as well as air purifiers in every classroom.
We will continue to monitor the air quality and make adjustments as necessary should the air become worse throughout the day. We will keep you updated with any changes.
Please see our website for more information on air quality.
Sincerely,
Damon J. Wright, Ed.D.
Superintendent
