Dear Parents and Guardians,

With the advancement of Dr. Beatson to her new role as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services from Principal of Turner Elementary, we were challenged with the task of finding her replacement.

After a thorough search and interview process,  I am excited to announce that we offered the position to Mr. Stephen Slater and he has accepted.

Mr. Slater earned his undergraduate degree and Credential from Saint Mary’s College. He received his Master’s Degree from Concordia University in Irvine.  Mr. Slater began his twenty three year career in education as an Elementary teacher. He was a teacher leader and teacher of the year twice for the Mount Diablo Unified School District. He recently served as Co-Administrator of Riverview Middle/High School and Vice Principal of Wren Avenue Elementary and Pleasant Hill Elementary.

Mr. Slater planned and has led technology integration professional development activities and served as a presenter at Mount Diablo School District’s STEM/Edtech Symposium. He recently served as the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Coordinator. He comes to Benicia Unified with high recommendations from his previous Superintendent and Principal.

We enthusiastically welcome Mr. Stephen Slater as the new Principal of Matthew Turner School.

Warmly,

Dr. Charles Young

Superintendent of Schools
