Negotiations is not always a simple process, it requires patience, honesty and a commitment to collaboration. Following six months of negotiations between the Benicia Teacher’s Association (BTA) and the District, I am pleased to share the news that we have reached an agreement. The teachers will receive 3.5% increase on the salary schedule effective April 1, 2017. Throughout the negotiation process, both teams were respectful, honest, and they shared a commitment to reach an agreement that is in the best interest of the organization and the students we serve.

The details of the agreement can be found here.

On behalf of the 252 teachers and the 4861 students in our school community, I thank our negotiations teams for their patience, perseverance, and professionalism.

Respectfully,

Dr. Charles Young, Superintendent
