COVID-19 Update 3-23-20

Dear Benicia Community,

I hope this communication finds everyone safe and sound as we enter our second week of school closures, distance learning and a state-wide shelter in place. Understandably, all of this is a considerable challenge for us as a society and community as there are many unknowns with a good deal of fear out there. However, I am confident we will get through this together. I realize there must be a good deal of adjustment taking place within your homes and I am so appreciative of the “we-are-in-this together” response from our parents, staff, and community members.

With challenges comes a silver lining, and I am so proud of our teachers and team members in all departments of BUSD. The response from all levels has been impressive and inspiring. Learning is taking place and students are being fed daily. Teachers, support staff, site and district leaders are staying in close contact with their school communities and are here to provide support and answers to your questions.

Our goal is to continue providing a reasonable level of learning opportunities for our students, knowing we are all balancing our social, emotional, and physical well being.

I will continue to keep you updated regarding any changes and am sending all of us thoughts of strength, compassion and resolve.

Thanks for being an amazing community!
