Dear Parents,

BHS administration and Benicia Police Department have identified the individual who submitted the alleged threat to the Instagram Page, Benicia High Confessions.  As a result of their investigation, the Benicia Police Department reconfirmed that there was never a legitimate threat to the safety of the students and staff at our schools.  We are grateful for the diligence and expertise of our Police Department and to our students, staff, and community for their understanding and support. During these scary and difficult times, it is through partnering with our community that helps us create a safe learning environment for our students and staff.

Please see the information posted out by the Benicia Police Department:

Benicia police detectives have identified a 16-year-old student to be the author of the threat posted on social media this morning. He was arrested and will be booked into Solano County juvenile hall. Family members are cooperating with the investigation.

We value our partnership with the community and are glad to be able to work cooperatively with Benicia High School and the Benicia Unified School District during incidents such as this one.

Dear Benicia Community and Staff,

As you may have heard, BUSD was made aware of a posting on the social media platform Instagram page called, Benicia High Confessions. First off, there is no active shooter on the Benicia High School Campus. The anonymous post contained an alleged threat towards BHS.  The Instagram page has been taken down since this was posted.  The Benicia Police Department and BHS are currently investigating this alleged threat. We are aware these types of threats can be hoaxes; however, we are taking the threat very seriously.  We are continuing to work closely with the Benicia Police Department to identify the source of the alleged threat.  As a precaution, there has been an increased Police presence at school BHS today.
