The Regular Governing School Board meeting of Thursday, May 4, 2023 will begin at 6:00pm in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are recommended, but not required. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #10 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

This is a light meeting that will begin with the installation of Amy C. Hirsh, Area 5 new Board Member with the Oath of Office administered by Lisette Estrella-Henderson, Solano County Superintendent of Schools. The highlights will be from Robert Semple Elementary and Liberty High School. The Consent Calendar includes an overnight field trip for Benicia High School and there will be an update on the Federal Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief Grant (ESSER lll) from Dr. Leslie Beatson, Assistant Superintendent Educational Services. Action items include: the Consideration and Approval of the adoption of curriculum for Elementary Science Kindergarten-5th grade, the School Plans for Student Achievement, the 2025-26 School Year Calendar, and lastly a review of Board Member LIaisons and Representatives to Specified Committees for 2023.
