Benicia Unified School District

Superintendent’s End of Year Thank You

BUSD Parents,

The 2022-2023 school year has closed, and I thank you for entrusting the District with your children. Benicia is a special community because of the support our parents provide their children and the school community that serves them. Upon reflection, I hope you and your student enjoyed the school year and feel prepared for the next step in the educational journey. Thank you!

The summer months are ideal for relaxation and engaging friends and family in activities. While we encourage a fun-filled summer, we recommend that your student incorporate leisurely reading and an occasional review of math facts into their summer schedule in preparation for the 2023-2024 school year.

BUSD District Office staff will continue planning for the upcoming school year, including professionalizing our brand to ensure our image matches our potential. In August 2023, the District will launch a new website that aims to be visually appealing, encompasses a wealth of resources for your use, and has user-friendly navigation. You can also anticipate community engagement events designed to solicit input from our parents and provide information on essential topics within the District as well as trends within public education. We will publish the schedule of events in the August 2023 newsletter.

BUSD aims to provide a service that makes our community proud and practices that our colleagues throughout the State will want to emulate. Our holistic approach to educating students academically, socially-emotionally, and equitably has us on the correct trajectory; now, it is essential that, as a school community, the District, students, and parents move forward in unison to ensure we provide the best possible practices for students.

Thank you again for making our District outstanding not only for our students and staff but our community. Please have a great summer, and I look forward to starting the new school year strongly and looking forward to seeing you in August.

Respectfully,

Damon J. Wright, Ed.D.
Superintendent
