The Regular Governing School Board meeting of Thursday, August 17, 2023’s open session will begin at 6:00pm in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are recommended, but not required. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #10 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

This meeting’s Highlight will be a Bond Summer Project Update from Roxanne Egan, Bond Director. The Consent Calendar includes: an overnight Outdoor Educational Field Trip, a Resolution regarding the Education Protection Act (EPA), District Authorized Signatures, the Consolidated Application, and the Quarterly Report on Williams Uniform Complaints. The Presentation and Communication/Informational item is a Summer Programs update. The Action Items include: Consideration and Approval of the 2023-/24 Final State Budget, 45-Day Revision: Approval of the Adjustments to the One-Time Block Grants from the 23/24 Final State Budget for the District, the Substitute Pay Salary Schedule, Intent to Employ with Provisional Internship Permits, an Intent to Employ with a Variable Term Waiver, a job description for a Food Services Nutrition Manager for the 2023-24 school year, and a Food and Nutrition Services Coordinator for the 2023-24 school year, and a Revised Declaration of Need (CL500).
