The Regular Governing School Board meeting of Thursday, March 14, 2024’s open session will begin at 6:00pm in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are optional. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #10 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

For this meeting we will have two highlights, the Benicia Middle School ~ E9 Class: Recycling Program and the Benicia High School Boys Basketball team who made history as the first team to win the Section Championship since 1989. Under the Consent Calendar there is an acceptance of gifts, the BUSD Transportation Plan and a Resolution for approval of the Conflict of Interest Code for BUD in accordance with Bylaw 9270. The presentation item is the first reading of the recommended California School Board Association (CSBA) Board Policy Updates from the Dec. 2023 update packet. Finally, the two action items are the Governing Board review and award of the Federal E-Rate Bid for Network Electronics to the low bidder, GigaKOM. the review and approval of the 2023/24 2nd Interim Financial Report for the Benicia Unified School District (BUSD) and Initial Sunshine of Benicia Teachers Association and Benicia Unified School District’s Proposal for the 2024-2025 School Year Negotiations.
