Special Friends & Second Step

Welcome to our site!

The Special Friends and Second Step Classroom Programs are long-standing within the Benicia Unified School District. Both programs are highly effective early intervention/prevention programs serving the social-emotional needs of all elementary students. This site will share information about both programs.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue our phenomenal programs, Special Friends and Second Step Small Group, offered in the Benicia Unified School District and invite you to explore our site to learn about each one.  Whether you are an educator, school staff, or are the parent or guardian of a child who has either recently been referred, are interested in referring your child, or have a child who has participated previously, we created this website to provide you with detailed and relevant information about each one.
