The City of Benicia is a Bay Area City located adjacent to the Carquinez Strait, which is part of San Francisco Bay.  Benicia is a historic waterfront City known for it’s small town charm, history and high quality of life. A recent San Francisco Chronicle survey of Bay Area communities named Benicia the No. 1 place to raise a family. Benicia offers an abundance of leisure and recreational activities.

The Benicia Unified School District is located at 350 East K Street in Benicia, CA 94510. The Superintendent of Schools for BUSD is Damon J. Wright, Ed.D. The district is governed by a five-member Board and serves pre-K, through adult education. The District includes four elementary schools, one middle school, one comprehensive senior high school, one continuation high school, and a preschool program.  Our student population for grades TK-12 is approximately 4,500. The District employs 220 teachers and 150 classified employees.  Our well-equipped classrooms and helpful, knowledgeable employees exemplify strong support services. In addition to regular programs, the District also offers curricula for gifted and talented, English learners, pre-kindergarten, independent study, ESL and GED classes with information linked for your convenience.

The Benicia Unified School District consistently scores the highest Scholastic Achievement Scores (SAT) in Solano County.  Many of Benicia’s schools receive distinguished school awards.  Benicia’s schools are rated in the top 15% of all school districts nationwide by SchoolMatch, Inc.

Our District has an open-door philosophy, however, we all have busy schedules and we know that you work or run a household during our office hours. Agreeing on a date to speak with your child’s teacher, principal, or a district employee will ensure that you can be heard and your issue can be addressed properly at a time that fits your schedule.
