Benicia Unified School District

Notification About Air Quality

Category(s): Latest News

Posted On: November 15, 2018

We are continuing to monitor the air quality, using the EPA approved site, Airnow. This is the site used by school districts and government agencies to guide our decisions regarding air quality.

We are keeping schools open for the remainder of today, but please know, we support families who choose to stay home due to health concerns. Students who stay home due to sensitivity to smoke will receive excused absences.  We will monitor the air quality closely and will do all we can to notify everyone as soon as possible regarding tomorrow.

Further, I have attached a letter from the County Superintendent (here) for more information regarding air quality and how schools can respond.  All schools in Solano County are open, as is Martinez and Concord, our neighboring districts to the south. Our thoughts continue to be with those directly affected by the fires.

Thank you for your patience in this unfortunate, and what increasingly appears to be, our “new abnormal.”
