Dear Families,

I hope this communication finds you well and you are looking forward to the return of full-time, in-person instruction.  We are, with great enthusiasm, looking forward to seeing everyone back on our campuses.  The return to full-time, in-person instruction represents a GIANT move forward for society and supports what we know about student development regarding the tremendous benefits of in-person learning while in the presence of our excellent teachers, all staff and certainly, friends and peers.

With summer winding down and the first day of school approaching, Tuesday, August, 17, I wanted to reach out again and provide an update regarding several items of importance.

Health & Safety/School Operations:  Given the ongoing COVID pandemic, we are required to abide by COVID requirements mandated by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).  The following Q & A link provides the most updated information we have available: 2021-22 School Year Questions & Answers. Please continue to check back regularly or call your child’s school directly with any questions.  This information will be posted on the District website.

New School Day Start:  As a reminder, the new school start times are 8:00 a.m. for Elementary, 8:15 a.m. for Middle School and 8:30 a.m. for High School. This information has also been added to the BUSD website linked here:  School Calendar page or can be found on each school site’s web page under the Bell Schedule tab.

New School Communication System: Benicia Unified School District is excited to stay connected with our families using a new communications tool called ParentSquare. This will streamline communications from your school and teachers to keep you informed and connected this year. ParentSquare provides a safe way for administration, teachers, staff and parents to receive important school and teacher communication, all in one place. Benicia Unified School District will email out information to get started with ParentSquare on Monday, August 9th.

New Student Information System: BUSD is also excited to introduce our new student information system which replaces PowerSchool called Aeries. Information to get started with Aeries will also be sent to families on Monday, August 9th so that you can create your account and complete registration for your student(s). Student schedules will then be available on Aeries on Tuesday, August 10th.

On We Go!
