Dear BUSD Community,

BUSD Equity Statement

BUSD ensures that historically marginalized students’ voices, cultures, identities, and stories are valued and celebrated. To assure our students thrive,  BUSD will dismantle barriers and advance policies and practices that support our diverse community.

The purpose of our District equity statement is to ensure that all educational partners understand  our commitment to equity and to ensure that the equity initiatives of individual sites and departments align with the District’s overall values and equity goals. Our next steps will be to develop an action plan, as part of our Strategic Plan-LCAP Goal 4,  with timelines for addressing problems of practice within our system.  This information will be available on our website to ensure that our community is informed about the work occurring in the District.

Cultural and Diversity Spotlight

As part of our ongoing focus on equity, we want to recognize and value the diverse community that makes up our District.  This month begins National Hispanic Heritage Month.  There are great resources and information found on the National Hispanic Heritage Month website.  We are working with our staff and Public Library to ensure that we have access to high quality resources and promote learning by incorporating the so our children learn about the important contributions of Latinas/Latinos/Latinxs people.

Volunteer Guidelines

Effective September 17, 2022, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) ended the COVID-19 policies that required weekly COVID-19 testing for unvaccinated and under-vaccinated school workers. Due to the recent policy change, the  Benicia Unified School District will now permit unvaccinated volunteers to volunteer and serve our students and organization.

On behalf of the District, we appreciate our volunteers and their support to our students and our organization.
