BENICIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 

Announcement of Board Member Vacancy 

The Solano County Registrar of Voters notified the Benicia Unified School District that no candidate has applied to serve Area 5 (map linked) for the November 8, 2022, general election. In response, the Benicia Unified School District Governing Board will provisionally appoint a candidate to fill the seat at the November 3, 2022, Regular Governing Board meeting.

Qualified candidates (resident of Benicia living in Area 5, a citizen of California, not employed by Benicia Unified, a registered voter over 18 years of age, and not legally disqualified from holding a civil office) may apply by picking up, completing and returning an application packet at the Office of the Superintendent. 

Office hours are 8:00 am- 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.

Applications must be picked up in person from and once completed submitted to:

Provisional Appointment Timeline:

• The filing period begins on September 16, 2022, and closes on October 14, 2022, at 12:00 pm.
• The Governing Board will interview selected applicants and announce the candidate chosen at the November 3, 2022, Regular Governing Board meeting.
• The provisional appointed candidate will be sworn in at the Governing Board Organizational Meeting on December 15, 2022.
