The Regular Governing School Board meeting of Thursday, June 8, 2023 will begin at 6:00pm
in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are recommended, but not required. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #10 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

The highlight will be from Dr. Jon Ovick, Director of Student Services on Community Partnership in Support of Student Attendance Improvement. The consent calendar includes: an acceptance of gifts to the District and various resolutions from signature authorizations, Education Technology Joint Powers Authority, and obsolete items from school sites to close out the school year. The action items include: Consideration and approval of the adoption of curriculum for elementary 3rd-5th grade, History Social Science and the course outline for Spanish 4. The consideration and adoption of both the 2023-24 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and Budget for the Benicia Unified School District (BUSD). Consideration and Approval of the Intent to Employ with a Provisional Internship Permit and last but not least Juneteenth holiday for Classified Confidential/Management Employees.
