The Regular Governing School Board meeting of Thursday, October 5, 2023’s open session will begin at 6:00pm in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are optional. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #10 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

This meeting will begin with a highlight from Principal Kleinschmidt of Benicia High School, who will feature National Merit Scholar Semi Finalist (David Broom) and the Girls Flag Football Team, Head Coach: Rodrigo Escalante. The Consent Calendar includes: acceptance of a gift to the District, several Overnight Field Trips, and the quarterly report on William Uniform Complaints. The Presentation and Communication/Informational items include: a Proclamation in Recognition of Week of the School Administrator ~ October 8-14, 2023, the first reading of the recommended California School Board Association (CSBA) Board Policy updates or Sep. 2022, Dec. 2022, Mar. 2022 and June 2023 and lastly, a presentation on Instruction and Data Expectations to Support All Learners. There are no action items on this meeting’s agenda.
