The Regular Governing School Board meeting of December 12, 2023 will begin at 6:00 pm on Tuesday rather than our regular Thursday evening in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are optional. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #11 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

This is the Annual Organizational meeting of the Governing Board that includes the reorganization of the roles and responsibilities of the Governing Board members, and the approval of the 2024 Calendar of Board Meetings at the beginning. During the regular portion of the meeting, the Consent Calendar, includes gifts to the district and the following resolutions: #23-24-08, to Certify the Annual Accounting for Development Fees for the Fiscal Year 2022/23 and #23-24-13, Declaration of Obsolete Library Materials.
The agenda continues with the following Presentations and Communication/Informational items: a Special Education Listening & Learning Tour Update, an LCAP Mid Year Update, and the First reading of the recommended California School Board Association (CSBA) Board Policy Updates for September 2023 and October 2023 Special Update . The Action Items include the following Course Outlines: Choir, Yearbook, and Economics, the Appointment of Community Advisory Committee Representative, the Intent to Employ with a Provisional Internship Permit, the Extension of the deadline for the BUSD Early Notification Retirement Incentive, Resolution No. 23-24-14 to adopt the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) Supplementary Retirement Plan, the Governing Board review and approval of the 2023/24 1st Interim Financial Report for the District, consideration and approval of the Amendment to the Contract between Superintendent Dr. Damon J. Wright and BUSD, and Resolution No. 23-24-12 for Increase in Compensation of Board Members.
