Paul Hanna
Paul Hanna is the dedicated Band Director at Benicia Middle School. Mr. Hanna exhibits exceptional commitment and passion in bringing the marching band and band program to the next level. His tireless efforts have brought achievements in multiple competitions across the Bay Area and pride to our Benicia community through wonderful performances at local events such as the Holiday Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade. Beyond his musical expertise, Mr. Hanna exemplifies selflessness by generously donating his time and unwavering support to his students. His invaluable contributions extend far beyond the classroom, making a lasting impact on both our school and the broader community. Gulshan Kumar
Gulshan Kumar works as a daytime custodian at Benicia Middle School. Mr. Kumar ensures the cleanliness and safety of our campus, creating a positive and welcoming environment for all. His friendly and kind demeanor fosters a sense of community, and his excellent rapport with staff and students is commendable. Mr. Kumar consistently goes above and beyond his responsibilities, always ready to lend a helping hand and positively impact our school community. Amber Golden
Ms. Amber Golden works as a teacher in the Joe Henderson preschool program. Ms. Golden provides a rich learning environment for our youngest students by ensuring her students feel safe and have opportunities to learn and grow. Ms. Golden has grown immensely over the past few years, and her dedication enhances the learning environment, provides inclusivity with parents, and contributes to the overall success of the CDU department. Georgina Martinez
Ms. Georgina Martinez is the Superintendent’s Chief Assistant and Executive Assistant to the Board of Trustees. Her team approach provides the necessary support to colleagues, which contributes to the ongoing success of the organization. Ms. Martinez takes great pride in providing outstanding customer service to educational partners. She addresses complex matters with empathy and great concern and develops and maintains strong relationships throughout the community. In addition to facilitating the daily operations within the District Office, Ms. Martinez organizes the agenda items for Governing board meetings. She ensures that they occur within the requirements of the Brown Act. Ms. Martinez, thank you for being a BUSD All-Star!
Lisa Golsan
Ms. Lisa Golsan has worked within the Benicia Unified School District for twenty-three years (Joe Henderson Elementary School and Benicia Middle School). She currently works as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), supporting teachers with professional learning and growth. MS. Golsan uses strong communication skills and a passion for equity and inclusion to guide her work. Ms. Golsan specifically helps new teachers with daily instruction, educates them on curriculum and the Math Framework, and facilitates professional learning for technology platforms. As a self-proclaimed “data dork,” Ms. Golsan also promotes and supports school sites with student data studies, provides essential data for the LCAP process, and develops slide presentations for educational partners to review.
