The Regular Governing School Board meeting of Thursday, September 21, 2023’s open session will begin at 6:00pm in the BUSD Board Room at 350 East K Street. This is an in-person meeting, masks are optional. Members of the public may address the Board at a regular meeting on any item within the Board’s jurisdiction. Speaker cards are available on the entrance table. Please note the item you wish to speak to and submit the card to the Board Secretary. The Board President will call all public comments not on the agenda (Gov. Code Section 54954.3) during the public comment item #10 and that item number should be noted on the speaker card. All other comments will be called during the specific items that align with your topic. Comments are limited to no more than three minutes per speaker or the board may limit the total time to 20 minutes per item with the timer displayed on the monitors. By law, no action may be taken on any item raised during the public comment periods and matters may be referred to staff for placement on a future agenda of the Governing Board.

This meeting will begin with a highlight from Alfredo Romero, Director of Maintenance, Operations, & Facilities on the Summer Projects completed by his department. The Consent Calendar includes: several Overnight Field Trips, a Resolution for the approval of Establishing Appropriations Limit Pursuant to the GANN Limit, and another for Obsolete Library Media Materials for Matthew Turner Elementary. The Presentation and Communication/Informational item is an update on the Federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Grant (ESSER III) and the Action Items are a Public Hearing regarding the Sufficiency or Insufficiency of Instructional Materials, and the Consideration and Approval of the 2022/23 Unaudited Actuals Financial Report with 2023*24 Budget for the Benicia Unified School District (BUSD).
